Regina Parkinson has been making art since childhood and still owns the first Coke bottle she collaged with magazine photos of orange flowers and words like “peace” and “Kool”. While she’s broadened her range to work in acrylics on canvas, her passion for mixed media and found objects remains strong. Nature-inspired themes in abstract or impressionistic styles are common, with subject matter ranging from subdued to whimsical. Regina is also free lance writer, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Her writing sometimes finds its way into her work in imaginative ways, but many pieces tell stories without a single word. One recurring character, known as “Adventure Bird”, appears frequently. A portion of all sales of Adventure Bird items is donated to National Audubon Society, aiding birds impacted by the recent Gulf Coast oil spill.
