Jim Watson has always found a fascination with the unusual art that nature creates in wood. He started carving wood at an early age and built his first lathe and turned his first pieces when he was in grade school.

Each piece of wood is unique with its own special qualities. Shape, size, grain, color,  type of wood, and the way it is cut all play a role in the finished product. Holes or defects naturally occur in wood, either from insects or degradation. Rather than use traditional wood fillers to cover up these defects, they are inlaid with powered metal, stone, wood dust or seashells.
